Product: The Body Shop For Men Maca Root Shave Cream
Price: $10 USD (125mL) , $16 USD (200mL)
My Rating: 9/10
I had to buy this The Body Shop For Men Maca Root Shave Cream. It was a package deal with the shaving brush. I was thinking hard before buying this shaving cream, because I just bought Gillette Fusion Irritation Defense Shave Gel. Why would I have 2 shaving cream / gel? It would be a waste of money, right?
Gladly that all Body Shop stores have a sample product on display for most of its products. So I took the Maca Root Shave Cream and opened the cover, took a dip, felt the cream between my finger, smelled the perfume it uses, and everything else that I can do to it. The results of pre-buying testing are the cream felt smooth, a bit oily, a hint of a nice smell, and the thought of what is a maca root?
By the way, it was my first attempt on buying a good shaving cream. The Body Shop For Men Maca Root Shave Cream was already my target for buying. I didn’t immediately buy the product. It was on my second visit to the store when I bought it. My wife was intrigued why I insisted on visiting The Body Shop again. She found out that I wanted to buy manly stuff at mostly girly stuff store. She couldn’t help to have a good chuckle. Why wouldn’t she? The shop has only a small line of products for man. We also realized that the store is lacking choices for manly things. It has only Maca Root Shave Cream and no other shaving creams.
Back to the thought of what is a maca root. The Body Shop website says: Touted as the “super food of the Andes,” the maca root, dense with essential vitamins, minerals and fatty acids, was first used by the Inca more than 2,000 years ago for energy and endurance. During the height of the Incan empire, legend has it that Incan warriors would consume maca before entering a battle to make them fiercely strong. Interesting!
I searched the Internet (aka Wikipedia browsing) for more information and found out several interesting facts about maca root :
- use for anemia
- use for chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS)
- enhancing energy, stamina, and athletic performance
- enhancing memory
- good for fertility
- use for female hormone imbalance, menstrual problems, and symptoms of menopause
- use for erectile dysfunction (ED)
- use to arouse sexual desire
- use to boost the immune system
- use for weak bones (osteoporosis), depression, stomach cancer, leukemia, HIV/AIDS, and tuberculosis
After reading what maca root can do, I concluded that The Body Shop was targeting the aphrodisiac feature. To help men arouse the sexual desire of the opposite gender. Will this feature work? Let’s try it out!
The plastic container (I bought the 200mL size) looks very cheap and fragile. Open it and you will find the cream that looks so creamy and shiny. It seems that The Body Shop put micro glisters all over it.
I grabbed the almond size cream and put it into a bowl. I started lathering with the shaving brush I bought together with the cream. It lathered rather easily. The foam built up nicely.
I put the foam on my face. Felt really good with the “oily” feeling. It didn’t dry out during the shaving. My old disposable razor glided really well. It cut really close. I never felt this good about shaving while I was using Gillette shaving gel.
Usually I got nicks and cuts. I always blamed the cheap razors that I bought and never the shaving gel. But this time, it went really smoothly. I didn’t get any nicks even though I did not use a new blade. Instantly I fell in love with this The Body Shop For Men Maca Root Shave Cream.
My face felt so smooth. The skin did not have many razor burns. It felt moisturized and conditioned. It also cleared easily with water. The mildly scented cream did not overpower my smelling capability. I was ecstatic!
Now for the maca root effects. I did not feel any Incan warriors’ fierceness. Nope. I also did not feel any stronger compared to before using the cream. My wife seemed immune to the effects too. She did not feel any sexual arousal as she smelled me. She just said “Nice smell” and walked away continuing her chores.
Maybe I have to use The Body Shop For Men Maca Root Shave Cream regularly before the effects start showing. Better memory, better energy, and better athletic performance are certainly nice bonuses while you do your shaving. Do you already use the product long enough to feel the maca root effects? Tell me more please.
